Africa - Top predictions for 2017

At the start of 2017, the year ahead looks uncertain. An isolationist spirit in developed markets looks set to punish emerging ones, while the expectation of higher interest rates in the US will have destabilising effects on EM currencies. These dynamics will play out in Africa, too, but will matter less than the effects of the Chinese slowdown (which continues to depress commodity prices) and endogenous factors.
